    Scholarships

    The Kappa Sigma Endowment Fund awards over $250,000 each year to qualified brothers of the Fraternity who excel in the classroom, on campus, in the community and within the Fraternity. These brothers represent the best and brightest of Kappa Sigma undergraduates. Since 1948, the Endowment Fund has awarded more the $3.5 million to thousands of deserving Kappa Sigma brothers.

     

    Awards

    Kappa Sigma has developed outstanding, progressive programs in alcohol and drug education (My Brother's Keeper), individual and chapter scholarship, and recognizes excellence with individual, chapter and alumnus awards.

     

    Organization Facts

    FOUNDING
    Kappa Sigma Fraternity was founded at the University of Virginia December 10, 1869 .

    ALUMNI
    Kappa Sigma has over 100 alumni chapters throughout North America that actively support our undergraduate chapters.

    HEADQUARTERS
    Kappa Sigma headquarters in located in Charlottesville, Virginia very near the Downtown Mall and the University of Virginia campus. Currently, the Kappa Sigma Fraternity is in the process of erecting the largest International Headquarters in the Fraternal world, very near Monticello, the home of our third President, Thomas Jefferson.

     

    Chapter Facts

    The 236th chapter of Kappa Sigma, Mu-Eta, was chartered at the University of Louisville. Formerly known as Phi Omega Phi, a local fraternity, the chapter formally joined the rank of the Star and Crescents on November 5th, 1983. Fourteen men ushered in a new era on this campus. They are: Stephen Matthew Vest, Barry Anthony Royalty, Charles Aurthor Ballard, William Kelly Burke, Timothy Todd Clark, Donald Ross Price, William Edward Long, Todd Kingsley Bolus, Robert Jamey Doyle, John Charles Sternberg, Kimberly Alan Clark, Brian Dean Downs, and Timothy Charles White. One of the founders of the chapter did not participate in the first initiation. However, on the 10th anniversary of the chapter – November 5th, 1993, Paul Wesley Lewis was made an honorary initiate of the chapter and at long last, a Kappa Sigma. Over the course of her history, the chapter has initiated over 250 men thus far. Mu-Eta Brothers have gone on to become great leaders at the University, in the Fraternity, and in the community including Interfraternity Council Presidents, Student Government and Student Council Presidents, District Grand Masters, Assistant District Grand Masters, Masters of the Ritual, and Undergraduate Advisory Committee Members.

     

    Stats

    As of 2005, Kappa Sigma has existed on 295 campuses throughout the United States and Canada. Over 250,000 men have been initiated into the Fraternity which currently includes over 158,000 living alumni and 10,000 undergraduates.
